Almost there

I found another picture of one of the sampler blocks. It was in with pictures of Little Bit playing with bubbles after a soccer game.

I've been sewing away and almost have the top done. I just have to finish the borders.

Because of how and where I placed my stars I had to put the quilt together in a bit of a mish mashed way but it worked nicely, and I didn't have to deal with any long sashing strips.
I'm going to have to borrow my mom's kitchen table to get the borders pinned on.
Then I'm going to need to find a long arm quilter who can do it for early September. Any suggestions for the London/SW Ont region?

And some more

This is going together fairly well. I realized I made several of the sampler blocks to big. I must have been using the wrong line when sewing. I fixed some as best as I could but there are some lost points. Which is ok, because DH actually likes the imperfections. He says they give the quilt character, or make it unique. I'm never sure if I fully believe him but oh well.
I do find I run my fingers over the imperfections more, comforting in a way. It becomes so familar. Kind of like the quirks of those we love I guess.

The pattern calls for making star flowers, but seeing as this is for a guy, I made them into just stars. I've got a whole symbolic thing going that if it works will be very cool, or I hope so anyways. But it is a surprise. ;)

Now I'm pretty clumsy, forgetful, and generally disorganized. I try not to be, I really do, but it just is not my natural state. I really wish it was, but it's not, and I try to be aware of that and get silly trying to remember everything. So when I picked up the rotary mat to throw out some cuttings, from re-doing some of the blocks, I checked and remembered to take off the cutter...but not the template...
Nicely cleaned up but still wet.

In the background you can see down to the parking lot of my apartment, but what you don't see is that beyond that all I can see if trees, a very nice view for an apartment in the city if I do say so myself.

Prairie Paisley Cont'd

So I've been working away at the quilt for DH's birthday in September.
Here are some pictures of the sampler blocks. I can't find the rest of the pictures, meaning I probably put them in some obscure file to be found at a later date. :)

I chained pieced for the setting blocks. This is from my door to my neighbours door in my apartment hallway.

It was for the 16 setting blocks that form most of the red chain.

I really like this line from Moda. I know it's a year old now, but I still love it.

I've been sewing!!

I've been sewing. My DH does not have his own quilt so for his birthday in September I'm working on actually doing the Patchwork Party I ordered last year.
I've been sewing the blocks when he's at work.
This last week Little Bit was with her bio dad so I had lots of time for it.
These are some of the setting blocks.

I think I got a little carried away with the chain piecing, don't you think?

That's the hallway in my apartment building...hmm...maybe I got carreid away.

Lately, I really need the music going to do most anything. So CMT Country Max Trax has been on the TV, constantly. DH hates it because it means the TV is on even though there is no picture. But there is also no commericals, and a nice line-up of country music.

What music do you like to listen to while sewing?

Hmmm..

My world has been upside down and sideways this last year but I think I'm on an even keel now.
I've returned to sewing. I, in fact only have one more border to add to the quilt for my husband's birthday quilt in September. I have been taking pictures and will post them later.

Little Bit is done Kindergarden and will be moving schools in September because of boundry changes. Hopefully we can continue our upward changes with her.

I've finally gotten into a pain clinic, and to see the GI specialist about the fact that my stomach is eating itself, or so it has felt for the last year, even on the perscription neutralizers. So hopefully more news, will mean more planning for me to get better.
