Life has been hectic around here. I've had my in-laws up for a nice long visit along with my 3 year old nephew.
I've been sewing like mad, but not much I can show for it.
One thing I am doing when I have down time, waiting for Little Bit, or sitting with Shane, is working on hexies!
I've decided to start the quilt along, MFHexie, that Katy from Im A Ginger Monkey and FatQuarterly are hosting. FatQuarterly has info on how to make hexies, basting etc and links to places you can buy papers and some discount codes going one. This is the image of what the finished quilt will look like.
I'm using mostly Bari J's Lilly Belle, with some Paris Apartment thrown in. I just love the colours in this one, the grey and teal are just the perfect shades and Bari has such a talent with making the fabrics seem like they have all sorts of texture and dimension.
I've been using my AccuQuilt and Sizzix Big Shot to cut my own hexie papers and fabric. It has actually been working out really well.
So I cut papers from AccuQuilt and fabric from Sizzix, and since the Sizzix dies go through the AccuQuilt baby I don't even have to switch machines. This is one of the times where I see the difference between having lots of sizes, like with the AccuQuilt, and multiple of the same, like the Sizzix, are both useful. I'm not sure which I like better because there are pros and cons to both. Price wise though the Sizzix is cheaper by a fair amount.
You know what else would make this an awesome quilt? My Blogger Bundle from Fat Quarter Shop. Just sayin'....
Or maybe I'm hinting....or maybe I'm giving one away! Yes that is it! Fat Quarter Shop and I are giving away a blogger bundle! I knew there was something!!! Just leave a comment below letting me know what you would do with it! That's it! Nothing crazy. You can read about the bundle on Fat Quarter Shop's blog,

Cara - I didn't know you could use Sizzix dies in the AccuQuilt cutter!! Thanks for the tip. I bought some hexagon papers last week and I might give hexagons a try. If successful - your bundle would create some beautiful flowers. Thanks for the chance to win!
I would probably stare at it lovingly for a long while.... and then eventually make a baby quilt with it:)
I have and 8 year old niece who loves all the colors in your bundle. So I would make a quilt for her. Or maybe, if she's interested, I could teach her to sew with these fabrics. Thanks for the chance to win!
I love hexies. Your Lily Belle will be gorgeous. I didn't realize you had a FQ Bundle -- it's beautiful! I'd love to win it and make a fun quilt from it. Thank for the chance.
If I won the fabric, I would make a quilt for my friend who really likes those bright colors! Thanks for a chance at winning some new fabric!
thanks for the give away! Love your fabric bundle. It looks fun and flirty. Maybe it would be perfect for the hexie quilt or a Swoon quilt. Both are on my list to make.
Love the fabrics you chose Cara. I'd make something for my kitchen. Just added an old table in there that I refinished a few years ago and it needs a table runner.
Lots of things that bundle could be used for.
Love that bundle and I can envision myself making lots of cute pincushions! :)
Covers for my Keurig brewer and my sisters!
You must have been reading my mind! I fell asleep last night thinking about hexagons since I have newly discovered English paper piecing. My daughter is playing volleyball all summer, and I love having some handwork I can throw in a bag to have something to do while she practices, so these fabrics would be an awesome summer hexagon project.
I love that bundle! I could use it for making Mon-stors, my signature creations!
I think those fabrics would be great to make a quilt with simple geometric shapes, set together with fresh solid white.
Wonderful fabric. As you say it would be great for making an hexie quilt. It would look fantastic.
I've been wanting to quilt-a-long with Katy but just can't justify buying more fabric before I use some more of my stash. So, I would definitely make a few Hexies with this bundle.
Thank you!
You sure put together a beautiful bundle. I had to go to the Fat Quarter site to get a closer look. A quilt for sure.
Pretty colors! I noticed FQS' Twirly Bird kit on FB today, using the Ballerina pattern - these fabrics would look great with that pattern, a la Twirly Bird!
I love that bundle! I just got a Sizzix machine for mother's day, specifically for doing hexies, circles and stars. I'm really enjoying it! I'd probably use the fabric bundle for a really fun bed-size quilt!

I have an accuquilt machine and would love to learn these hexis or maybe a small quilt for the foot of my bed.

Have a wonderful day, and thanks again.
Any excuse I can find to start a new quilt, I will use! I would wait for a QAL that looks fun and get started!
I would love to use it on a new quilting project! bearrabbitbear at hotmail dot com
Oh it's so nice to hear someone comparing the Accuquilt and the Sizzix hexies.. I have an Accuquilt GO and I was recently looking at the Sizzix dies at a quilt fair, but I was under the impression that the Sizzix dies weren't able to be used in the Accuquilt cutters.
I really liked the way the sizzix hexie dies were done in multiples of the same size instead of multiple sizes, but I didn't really want to have to buy a whole new "cutting system"!
Meanwhile, if I won your gorgeous blogger bundle I think I'd use it when I redecorate my daughter's room.. cushions, bunting, mini quilt wall hanging..
What bright fun fabrics! Looks like something made for summer would be great in these fabrics.
Your bundle looks like a splash of summer flowers. So...a picnic quilt would be fun to make.
You said that the sizzix dies fit the accuquilt baby??? Is this true for all sizzix dies???
I have the Go,, but have seen some very nice sizzix dies,, but wondered if they'd fit..
Lovely bundle by the way, for summer stuff.
Love, love your colourful bundle! I'd add solid white to it and make a bright summertime quilt, with funky flowers created using the Accuquilt dies!

I'd love to make a quilt for my mum ;)
I cannot tell you how in love I am with these fabrics. Yea, I'm one of them...fabriholic. I know the first thing I would do with them is sit and look and admire them through touch. Honestly I'm not sure I would have the courage to cut them.

I'd make a patchwork beach blanket/quilt.
I'd stare at it for a while, and then I'd make a fun picnic quilt for my kiddos. Such bright lovely summer colors!
xoxo
Let's be honest: I'd put in top of my current projects, pet it, love it, stare at it any time I needed to be cheered up, and then finally, probably 3 months later when it will be getting cold here, I would cut into it and make a super cheery quilt to get me through winter. Maybe use AMH's prism pattern that I've been seeing everywhere.
